Edison's electric railway of 1880 at Menlo Park, N.J. [1880-1922]

Collection contains a series of 10 cyanotype photographs of Edison's electric railway in Menlo Park, New Jersey, executed for the General Electric Company, 1880-81. The images include an electric train driven by Charles Batchelor, Edison's long time collaborator, and close-up photographs of the locomotive. Also included are two cyanotype portraits of Edison, dated 1881; a four page typescript describing the photos in detail, signed by Charles L. Clarke and dated 1922; and a booklet by Clarke "Edison's electric railway," New York: Van Nostrand, 1882 reprinted from Van Nostrand's Engineering magazine, Dec. 1880.
